Rich Vellucci was a key member of the 1990 State Championship wrestling team, a group of athletes who were not just teammates, but family. Their bond, built on camaraderie, respect, and mutual support, has remained strong to this day. Rich’s impact on the sport of wrestling, and on his community, has been immeasurable.

His love for wrestling extended far beyond his high school years. Rich dedicated countless hours to coaching the youth wrestling program, where his passion for the sport continued to inspire the next generation. With two sons who also shared his love of wrestling (a passion truly in their blood), Rich’s commitment to the sport was unwavering. Whether it was assisting with practices, supporting coaches at meets and tournaments, or lending a hand with fundraising events, Rich was always there. He could often be found pacing the floor during every meet, offering guidance to wrestlers on what they could improve and what they were doing well. His generosity and dedication extended to the entire community, as he always made time to help those in need and support his fellow wrestlers.

Rich worked tirelessly to build a successful life for his family, and now, in honor of his enduring legacy, we have created this scholarship to continue his spirit. This scholarship will recognize an outstanding wrestler at Lake Orion High School. Through this scholarship, we aim to keep his legacy alive, ensuring that Rich Vellucci’s influence continues to inspire future generations at Lake Orion.
